Reference and Research Help

University Center students have access to the same virtual reference services provided to all NEIU students. Please visit our Ask a Librarian page to see the many ways you can get in touch with us.

Access to Databases

All of our online databases are available to University Center students. Just like from home or anywhere off-campus, students will need to login with their NetID and password to be granted access.

ID Cards

An NEIU ID card is required for all library transactions. If you have not picked yours up yet, they can be obtained from the NEIU Office at the University Center located on the 2nd floor in Room 220 B. The office is staffed most Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:00am - 7:00pm. However, it is recommended that you make an appointment to ensure staff availability. Please email: TransferSteps@neiu.edu

ID's can also be obtained at the main campus Student Union. Please contact info-center@neiu.edu or call 773-442-4290 for more information.

Printing

A swipe card for printing and copies is available for check out at the 1st floor service desk. The card is for use in the University Center's printing system and is made available at no cost to NEIU students.

University Center students also receive the same a print quotas as regular NEIU students. However, this quota only applies to the NEIU printing system which does not include the University Center's computers or printers. This means that for University Center students to take advantage of their print quota they will need visit a computer lab at the main campus, El Centro, or CCICS

I-Share Requests

University Center students can request materials through I-Share just like any other NEIU student. Please keep in mind that the default pickup location will still be the main campus Library. At this time the University Center is not a designated pickup location. However, students are welcome to have their requests routed to any other I-Share location that may be closer or more convenient. We encourage you to take a look at this map and find the I-Share location nearest you.

I-Share requests can also be used to have local materials from NEIU's collection delivered to whichever I-Share location is most convenient.

ILLiad Article Requests

ILLiad requests for articles from other libraries made by University Center students work the same as they would for any other NEIU student. Once processed, the article is delivered electronically.

University Center students also have the unique option to make ILLiad requests for print articles from our own local collection. When making such a request, be sure to specify in the Note field that you are in fact a student at the University Center. Otherwise the request may be rejected.

ILLiad Book Requests

For requesting books via ILLiad, please specify in the Notes field that you are a University Center student and which I-Share location you would like to pick up your request from.
